Congratulations to Donae Owens 2010 Youth Service Award winner presented by Xi Omega Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha. The award will be presented on May 16, 2010. Congratulations to the following Banneker Creative Writers for being honored as finalist in this year's Larry Neal Writing Competition: Poetry - Nia Shambourger, Short Story - Diamond Richardson, and Essay - Siera Toney. Congratulations to Xiao Guo, Briana Clorey, and Thomas Temesgen for being winners in the National History Day Competition last Saturday at Howard University! Xiao Guo won first place, Briana Clorey will represent Banneker and all of DCPS at the National Competition this summer. Congratulations to Brandon Holden for receiving a 2010/2011 NSLI for Youth scholarship. He will spend this summer in Istanbul, Turkey. Congratulations to Yasmine Arrington for placing third in the Talent Search for Young Black Writers. Congratulations to the Street Law Class and Mr. Wilson for Winning 1st Place in the 38th Annual Mock Trial Tournament which took place at DC Superior Courthouse on April 12th and April 15th, 2010. More than 300 DC Public High School students representing schools from all over the city played the roles of lawyers and witnesses in the mock trial tournament. Congratulations to the Tennis Team for its win against Coolidge!
Congratulations! Congratulations! On April 15, 2010, three Banneker Achievers received a full scholarship award through the Gates Foundation. The award covers up to five years for an undergraduate degree and up to six additional years for graduate study. Full album or slideshow.
