What is it like to be a student at Banneker?

Bring together the best of the best that Washington, DC has to offer from all corners of the city and place them in an environment that stimulates minds, encourages independent thinking, exposes students to college level and international studies courses, recruits outstanding faculty and offers access to technologies, materials and resources they need while having the ability to express their individual selves and you have a Benjamin Banneker Academic student -- Banneker students are "Achievers".

In Student Life, you can review the many aspects of a Banneker student's life -- whether its work or play or in between. Banneker students work hard and compete at play and can still have fun when working.

Banneker Robot 2010 - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Four members of Banneker’s Robotics Team and their robot braved the snow on Saturday, January 30, 2010 and competed at the Virginia First Tech Challenge Tournament at Oakton HS in Vienna. Devyn Jackson, Jelani Yorker, Tenisha Thomas, and Bryan Frazier (and many others) designed, built and programmed their robot to accomplish the tasks that were set in September. Their robot picked up balls and shot them at different targets during the four matches. By the end of the tournament our team, the only HS team from DC, ranked 10th.
